We all love spending time on our decks (if we have one). it is a way to enjoy the outdoors with some of the comforts of your home. But as much as we enjoy spending time on our decks, there are a few things we want to keep in mind for deck safety.

Here are a few things:

1: Handrails. Children tend to be most at risk when it comes to decks and falls. Be sure your handrails are in good condition and safe for children.

2: Wood Rot. Decks are outside – so eventually parts of them will rot. be sure to check your deck for any wood rot or damage before an issue happens that endangers you, your family, or your guests.

3: Good Construction. Deck collapses account for many injuries and deaths every year across the U.S., and is a serious issue. But what can you do about it? instead of trusting that your deck was constructed properly, ensure that it was with a proper inspection and have it checked by a qualified professional.

So enjoy your deck, spend time with your family, and enjoy the outdoors – but do it all safely keeping those 3 points in mind.
