If you are a parent, have you ever spent some time thinking of all the ways your children could get hurt in your home? You more than likely already have, but this is not a bad thing. You should be aware of the dangers so you can do your best to prevent them.

Too many children are hurt every year in the place where they should be the safest – their own home.

So what might you think of? If you have a pool, you should make sure that access to it is restricted to times when there is parental supervision. It should be fenced off and locked when no one is there.

Your power receptacles could be dangerous as well if a child were to stick some metal objects into them. Installing tamper-resistant receptacles can help protect your children there.

If you have stairs, you should block off access both from the bottom and the top even if you believe your child isn’t yet able to climb them.
